In case the laser is set to On via the power switch on the laser power supply and the key
switch on the laser is set to 0, the status report in the Laser Properties panel shows the status
Connected. When setting the laser to On in the laser Tool Window the laser tries to ignite
but will fail and the following message does occur after 1 minute: "Laser failure. The laser is
not igniting. Please check the key switch at the power supply of the laser! If the failure
persists contact your local Zeiss service team."
-> In this case turn the key switch to 1 to be able to start the laser. Click On or Standby in
the Laser tool window again.

In case the laser is set to On via the power switch on the laser power supply and the key
switch on the laser is set to 1, the laser can be started via software and the status report in
the Laser Properties panel shows the status Connected.
3. The laser is represented in the Laser tool
window (Fig. 90). A laser warning triangle
is depicted next to the word Argon if the
laser is in Standby or On. The laser is
started by either chosing On or Standby in
the Power drop down menue. The Laser
Properties panel shows the status of the
laser (Warming up) and a time countdown
indicates the time still needed for the warm
up of the laser until it is either On or in
Standby. During this time and while in
Standby the laser wavelengths are marked
in red in the Channels tool window to
indicate that the laser is not yet operating
at its optimal power setting. Once the laser
is in Standby or On its status changes to
Ready.
4. The Laser Properties Panel indicates the
Tube Current which is either 0.0 A
(Ampere) if the laser is Off, 2.0 A if the
laser is in Standby or 7.0 A (Ampere) if the
laser is On.
An additional drop down list next to Power in the
Laser Properties panel becomes active and serves
to select an additional power status when the laser
is On (Fig. 91). Next to the drop down list the
power of the laser is indicated as percentage value
where 100% are equal to 25 mW (or 35 mW) of
power output (for the 25 or 35 mW Multiline
Argon laser respectively). The laser is set to work at
100% providing a constant power output at the
Optimal operation mode. The tube current is
adapted accordingly to match the 100 % output.
For certain experiments you may want to set the
laser to its maximum output power. This status is
needed for short periods of time (minutes) like for
example with a FRAP experiment. To get maximum
power open the Laser Properties panel and chose
