Mean Fusion:
The average intensity for each pixel is calculated using the values from both illumination sides.
Maximum Fusion:
The intensity of each pixel of both illumination images is compared and the value with the higher
intensity is used for the resulting image.
For Mean Fusion and Maximum Fusion the checkbox Fusion Subset in X can be activated (Fig. 516).
With these controls it is possible to chose which area of the left and the right illumination image should
be used for fusion.
When this function is chosen, the image is displayed in the Preview Tab within the image container
(Fig. 517). In this preview mode the left hand image shows the original dataset and the right hand image
the preview of processing. Using the dimension sliders within the image control area the Z-Position,
Illumination side and View can be chosen.
In Fusion Subset in X the currently chosen View is displayed in the Current View box.
With the Left slider or spin box the area of the left illumination side is defined. This is marked at the
slider itself with a red line, the spin box shows the pixel value of the y axis. Furthermore the cut off is
shown in the preview image with a red line for easy orientation. It is best to set the illumination slider
of the image control area to 1, showing the left side illumination of the original data.
Repeat the process with the Right slider and input box; here the marking lines are in blue and the
illumination slider in the image control area should be placed to 2, showing the right side
illumination of the original data.
The Preview in the image container will show the position of both sliders Left and Right as red and blue
lines respectively (Fig. 517).
To avoid a visible change in intensity along the two cut off lines, for Mean Fusion with Fusion Subset
in X, an overlap of both illumination sides should remain in the center of the image and the Blending
slider should be used to define the number of pixels used within this overlap to crossfade both
illuminations sides.
The position of the sliders Left and Right as well as the Blending value must be defined for each view
individually.
