Countrate scan window for x, y and
z scans
• Define the extent of the scan by using the Start Position (µm) and End position (µm) input boxes
or their scroll arrows. You can see the current position in then Current Position (µm) display box.
The X, Y and Z directions are indicated above the input boxes.
• Define the step size by using the Step Distance (µm) input boxes.
• Perform the scan by pressing the Start button from the Countrate scan window.
During the scan the count rate is displayed for the selected channels. Dependent on the scan modalities
the count rates for the selected channels are plotted in a line plot (x, y and z) (Fig. 344) or frame plot (xy,
xz and yz) (Fig. 345). In the frame plot intensities are color coded. The maximum intensity in Hz is
displayed in the Maximum count rate channel 1 and 2 display boxes.

X-Y-Z Scan

The X-Y-Z Scan panel allows you to perform scans
in the x, y and z directions and combinations
thereof. Especially in the z direction, it helps to
position the focus to the correct position, e.g. in a
cell membrane.
• Click on the xyz-Scan button to open the
Countrate scan window (Fig. 343). Click the
Close button to close the window.
• Position your sample in x, y and z.
• Choose the scan you want to perform by
pressing either of the X-Y, X-Z, Y-Z, X, Y, and
Z buttons. The pressed button with a blue
frame indicates the active scan direction.
