2. lgnitor unit
This unit controls wave form, duty con-
trol, switching, electronic ignition ad-
vance, etc. The duty control circuit
reduces electrical consumption by con-
trolling the duration of the primary igni-
tion current.
The ignitor unit also has a protective cir-
cuit for the ignition coil. If the ignition
switch is on and the crankshaft is not
turning, the protective circuit interrupts
the current flow to the primary coil after
a few seconds. When the crankshaft is
turning, however, the ignitor unit sends
current to the primary coil.
Troubleshooting
The entire ignition system can be checked for
misfire and weak spark by using the Electro
Tester. If the ignition system will fire across a
specified gap, the entire ignition system is
good. If it will not fire across the gap, proceed
with the individual component tests until the
source of the problem is located.

Le bloc allumeur comprend aussi un

et si le vilebrequin ne tourne pas, le
circuit protecteur arrete le passage du
courant dans l'enroulement primaire en
quelques secondes. Quancl le vilebrequin
tourne, toutefois, le bloc allumeur envoie
du courant dans l'enroulement primaire.

L'electrotesteur (ELECTRO TESTER) per-
met de contrbler si le systeme d'allumage ne
presente pas de rates ou de faibles etincelles.
Si le systeme d'allumage fournit un etincelle-
ment a travers l'intervalle specific, ii est en
bon etat. S'il ne fournit pas d'etincellement
a travers cet intervalle, passer aux essais indivi-
duels des composants jusqu'a ce que la source
du probleme soit localisee.

Esta unidad controla la forma de onda,
funcionamiento, conmutaci6n, avance
del
encendido
electr6nico,
etc.
La
unidad de encendido tiene tambien un
circuito protector para la bobina. Si el
conmutador de encendido esta activado
y el cigOefial no gira, el circuito pro-
tector interrumpe el pasaje de corriente
a la bobina primaria luego de unos breves
segundos. Sin embargo, cuando el cigOe-
nal esta girando, la unidad de encendido
envfa corriente a la bobina primaria.

Detecci6n de averias
Todo el sistema de encendido se puede con-
trolar por falla de encendido y debilidad de
chispa empleando un probador electr6nico. Si
el sistema produce chispa a lo largo de una
holgura especificada, puede decirse que esta
en buenas condiciones. Si la chispa no se
produjera en la holgura, verificar los compo-
nentes individualmente hasta hallar la causa
del problema.
