The expander spacer of the bottom ring (oil
control ring) is color-coded to identify sizes.
The color mark is painted on the expander
spacer.

1. Measure the end gap of each piston ring.
Insert a ring into the cylinder, and push
it approximately 20mm (0.8 in) into
the cylinder. Push the ring with the
piston crown so the ring will be at a right
angle to the cylinder bore.
2. Measure the ring end gap with a feeler
gauge. If the end gap exceeds tolerance,
replace the whole set of rings.

You cannot measure the end gap on the
expander spacer of the oil control ring. If the
oil-control-ring rails show excessive gap, re-
place all three rings.

1. Mesurer l'ecartement des bees de chaque
segment. Inserer un segment dans le
cylindre puis l'y enfoncer d' environ
20 mm (0,8 in). Pousser le segment avec
la calotte du piston afin qu'il soit bien
positionne de niveau dans le cylindre.
2. Mesurer l'ecartement des bees du seg-
ment

!'aide d'une jauge d'epaisseur. Si
cet ecartement depasse la tolerance,
changer tout le jeu de segments.

Vous ne pouvez pas mesurer l'ecartement des
bees de l'expanseur du segment riic!eur
d'huile. Si Jes rails de ce segment presentent
un jeu excessif, changer chacun des trois seg-
ments.

para indentificar los tamaf'ios. La marca de
color esta pintada en el espaciador expansor.

1. Medir la holgura entre extremes de cada
aro de piston. lnsertar un aro en el cilin-
dro y empujarlo aproximadamente 20
mm (0,8 in) dentro del cilindro. Empujar
el aro con la corona del piston para que
quede en angulo recto con el diametro
interno del cilindro.
2. Medir la holgura entre extremes con un
calibre de espesor. Si tal holgura hubiera
excedido la tolerancia, cambiar el juego
de aros.

La holgura entre extremes no se puede medir
de el espaciador expansor del aro de control
de aceite. Si el riel de este evidencia una
holgura excesiva, cambiar los tres aros.
