Exchange Line Access

In order to initiate the dialling of an external telephone number, an external line must be used:
• By picking up the receiver on the direct exchange line access (factory settings)
• By picking up the receiver and dialling the exchange line access number if no direct
exchange access is used.

Switching Direct Exchange Line Access On/Off

If direct exchange access is enabled for an internal subscriber (factory setting), picking up the
receiver requests an external line (without having to enter the exchange line access number).
This setting is suitable for internal telephones that are primarily used for external calling and
without functions such as short-code dialling and private calls.
Note:
Internal calls are possible by dialling
The ISDN PC card, which should be used to program the system, may not be
configured as direct exchange access because otherwise programming via
the ISDN PC card will no longer be possible.
Switching this on/off can be done as follows:
• Separately for subscribers
• Via the configuration manager
Requirements:
– Configuration manager, opened with sufficient authorisation
1. Open the page PROPERTIES > Internal subscribers > Subscriber properties >
Exchange line settings.
2. In the list field at the top, select the subscriber in question by his name or number.
3. Select or clear the Direct exchange access check box.
Enables direct exchange access for the subscriber.
Disables direct exchange access for the subscriber.
