Configuring User PINs and Passwords
1. Open one of the following pages:
• CONFIGURATION > Internal numbers > Analogue subscribers
• CONFIGURATION > Internal numbers > ISDN subscribers
• CONFIGURATION > Internal numbers > VoIP subscribers
2. If necessary, change the PIN in the PIN entry field for the subscriber in question.
Possible entries:
Exactly 6 digits
Digits: 0-
Note:
All of the PINs in the PBX are unique. This means that it is not possible to
allocate the same PIN twice.
Do not use dates of birth or dates as PINs. This makes it easy for an attacker
to find out the correct PIN. PINs which are easy to guess, such as 111111 or
123456, should also be avoided.
It is possible to configure no user PIN at all.
The PIN is necessary e.g. for access to COMfortel Set and a COMfortel VoIP
2500 AB system telephone.
3. If necessary, change the password you want in the Password entry field for the
subscriber in question. Possible entries:
8 to 32 digits
Digits:
Characters: a- z, A- Z, no German umlauts and ß
Note:
The password is used for registering VoIP telephones.
Passwords with a low security level can not be saved.

Caution: A high level does not necessarily indicate a secure
password as it can also be reached by entering names and birth
dates. However, names and birth dates should not be used as
passwords.
• To create a secure password you can consult, for example, the
guidelines of the German Federal Office for Information Security
(BSI, in German).
