Adding a Printer
Adding a Printer under SUSE Linux
Requirements:
– A USB printer with the device class "printer" connected to the USB host and enabled
– Printer recognition by the USB host on the COMpact 3000 analogue/ISDN/VoIP
– Printer support through the printing software CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System)
1. Log in as "Superuser" on the computer.
2. Enter the following command into the console:
lpadmin -p <printer name> -E -v socket://<IP address of the PBX>:<Port> -
m
<printerdescriptionfile.ppd>: e.g., lpadmin -p DesignJet 5000PS -E -v
socket://192.168.0.240:9100 –m hp5000c1.ppd for an HP DesignJet 5000PS
with the printer description file hp5000c1.ppd
Adding a Printer under Mac OS X
Requirements:
– A USB printer with the device class "printer" connected to the USB host and enabled
– The printer driver included in the printer service program (compatible printer drivers are also
possible)
1. Open the printer service program. First click Go and then Utilities. Double-click
Printer Setup Utility, and then click the plus symbol at the bottom left.
2. Click IP Printer.
3. In the Protocol list field, select the HP Jet Direct - Socket option.
4. Enter the IP address of the PBX in the Address entry field.
Note: The Queue entry field must remain empty.
5. If necessary, enter the desired names in the Name and Location entry fields.
6. Select the printer driver in the Print using list field.
Note: If the corresponding printer driver is not shown in the Print using list
field, a compatible printer driver can be selected.
7. Click Add.
