Configuring NAT Traversal and the STUN Server
public-switched network with NAT traversal enabled, the transferring IP address will be
exchanged by the public IP address. For the reply, this function will be performed in reverse
direction.
Important: Each time a port is opened on the NAT router, a potential source
of danger arises. Therefore, additional protective measures are indispen-
sable.
A STUN server provides information on request to subscribers on a private network. This infor-
mation includes the IP address and port outside of their private network that is viewed as the
source of their data. This information is entered in the request, instead of the actual private IP
address/port.
Note: If you encounter problems with unilateral call connections, enabling the
RTP might help SERVICE > Port overview.
Important: Each port forwarding constitutes a security risk. You should use
as few forwarding configurations as possible.
Configuration can be carried out as follows:
• Separately for VoIP providers
• Via the configuration manager
Requirements:
– External VoIP channel (COMpact 3000 VoIP or VoIP channels purchased and activated in
the Upgrade Center)
– Configuration manager, opened with sufficient authorisation
– A configured DNS server and, if necessary, an HTTP proxy server
– Selected option activated: The registrar has to be enabled for the VoIP provider
1. Open the page CONFIGURATION > Voice over IP (VoIP) > VoIP provider.
2. Click in the line of the corresponding VoIP provider.
The configuration page for the VoIP provider opens.
3. Under SIP, select one of the following options:
