FAIL
If error code 512 or 768 is reported for a Packet Interface, the receive
512
(cont'd.)
FIFO in the Packet Interface has overflowed. This may be an
768
indication that additional Packet Interface capacity is required. For the
current hardware configuration, only two Packet Interfaces are
provided, so the problem should be escalated if the following repair
steps do not correct the problem:
PASS
The system software is able to communicate with the Packet Interface. If
problems are still reported on the Packet Interface, check for failures using the
Private Looparound test (#885) and Maintenance Looparound test (#886).
Reset Test (#889)
The reset action initializes the Packet Interface and causes the Packet Interface
firmware on the TN2402/TN798 Processor circuit pack to run a comprehensive
set of diagnostic tests.
The demand reset action aborts if the specified Packet Interface is in the
in-service state.
A Packet Interface is put in the out-of-service state automatically if it has been
reset 4 times by background maintenance within the last 15 minutes, independent
of the results of the reset action.

Issue 5 October 2002
Description/ Recommendation
