Now you can place rooms in the plan view, using the boundaries defined by room-bounding elements in
the host project and the room-bounding elements in the linked model. See
Rooms Spanning Floors or Levels
Rooms can span multiple floors or levels. For example, a building that has a public space or atrium that
spans multiple floors can be represented with a single room. Use the Upper Limit and Limit Offset parameters
to define the upper boundary of the room. See
Upgrading Rooms from Earlier Versions
The following sections contain information about recent enhancements to rooms.
Upgrading from Revit 2008 to Revit 2009
In Revit 2009, the algorithm for computing room volumes is further enhanced to improve accuracy. In
addition, for the purpose of estimating HVAC loads, room volumes are now computed to the wall face.
(They are no longer computed to the wall center or wall core.)
As a result, in existing projects that contain rooms, Revit Architecture may show numbers for room volumes
that are different from previous project numbers. These numbers reflect more accurate computations for
room volumes.
Upgrading from earlier versions to Revit 9
As of version 9.0, room calculations use new algorithms to compute room boundaries. These changes, which
make room calculations more robust, may cause changes to rooms that are upgraded from earlier versions.
For example, as of 9.0, crossing walls bound rooms.
If room-related warning messages are displayed during the upgrade process, you can review them later. (Click
