The Revit Links tab in the Visibility/Graphics dialog contains the following:
Visibility column: Select the check box to show the linked model in the view, or deselect the check box
to hide the linked model.
Halftone column: Select the check box to draw the linked model at halftone.
Display Settings column: View options to override additional settings for each linked model. The button
displays the current display setting state (By Host View, By Linked View, or Custom). See

Visibility for linked Revit models is controlled by view. You can use a view template to save the visibility
settings of a particular view and then apply it to other views. For more information, see
page 498.

1 Click View menu
2 Click the Revit Links tab.
3 Select the linked model or linked model instance to modify.
4 Click the button in the Display Settings column.
The RVT Link Display Settings dialog opens, from which you can access the Basics, Model
Categories, Annotation Categories, and Import Categories tabs. The Design Options tab is also
available if Design Options are used in the linked file.
5 If you selected a linked model instance, select the Override display settings for this instance
check box.
6 From the Basics tab, select one of the following:
By Host View. When you select this option, you cannot override any visibility settings for
the linked model, because the host view governs its appearance.
When the primary linked model is set to By Host View, each copy or instance of the linked
model can still be overridden on an individual basis by checking the box for Override display
settings for this instance. This option appears on the Basics tab when a copy or instance of
a primary linked model is selected in the Visibility/Graphics dialog.
By Linked View. When you select this option, you can choose which project view should
display for the linked model.
The Linked View drop-down list contains all available plan, RCP, section, elevation, and 3D
views from the linked model. The list is dependent on the view you are currently applying
visibility and graphic settings for. For example, if you are in an elevation view, only elevation
views populate the Linked view list. For 3D views, the type of 3D view you are currently
viewing dictates what populates the list (if you are viewing a perspective 3D view in the host
model, only perspective 3D views from the linked model display in the Linked View list, and
the same applies for orthographic 3D views).
