1. Backup lamp switch
2. Gear shift guide case bolt
3. Gear shift interlock bolt
4. 5th to REV interlock guide bolt
MANUAL TRANSMISSION (J18 ENGINE MODEL) 7A1-21
GEAR SHIFT AND SELECT SHAFT ASSEMBLY
1) Clean mating surface of guide case.
2) Install gear shift and select shaft assembly with new gasket into
transmission.
3) Place breather hose bracket and tighten it together with gear
shift guide case bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 19 N·m (1.9 kg-m, 14.0 lb-ft)
4) Install washer and gear shift interlock bolt applied with thread
lock cement and them tighten it to specified torque.
Thread lock cement
"A": 99000-32110 (SUZUKI BOND No.1322)
Tightening Torque
(b): 23 N·m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 lb-ft)
5) Install washer and 5th to REV interlock guide bolt applied with
thread lock cement and then tighten it to specified torque.
Thread lock cement
"A": 99000-32110 (SUZUKI BOND No.1322)
Tightening Torque
(b): 23 N·m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 Ib-ft)
6) Tighten backup lamp switch to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(c): 20 N·m (2.0 kg-m, 14.5 lb-ft)
7) Check input shaft for rotation in each gear position.
8) Also confirm function of backup lamp switch in reverse position
by using ohmmeter.
