1. Gear case oil seal
2. Pinion teeth
3. Fill inside of pinion
bearing plug with
grease.
4. Gear case O ring
5. Pinion bearing plug

REMOVE AND INSTALL STEERING PINION

REMOVAL
1) Remove rack plunger.
2) Remove bearing plug with special tool (A).
Special Tool (43 mm socket)
(A): 09944-26011
3) Tap on position as shown with plastic hammer to separate pin-
ion assembly from housing.
1. Pinion
2. Plastic hammer
4) Remove pinion assembly.
INSTALLATION
1) Apply grease to all around pinion teeth, pinion needle bearing
and gear case oil seal lip.
"A": Grease 99000-25050
2) Apply lock cement to pinion bearing plug thread.
"B": Lock Cement 99000-32050
3) Install pinion assembly.
4) Tighten pinion bearing plug to specified torque.
Special Tool (43 mm socket)
(A): 09944-26011
Tightening Torque
(a): 100 N·m (10.0 kg-m, 75.0 lb-ft)
5) Install rack plunger by performing Steps 1) to 5) in STEERING
RACK PLUNGER INSTALLATION of this section.
