DTC P0720/DTC NO.31 OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

TROUBLESHOOTING
STEP
1
Was "A / T DIAGNOSTIC FLOW TABLE" performed?

Check Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit.
1) Disconnect TCM connectors with ignition switch OFF.
2) Check for proper connection to output shaft speed sen-
sor at E25-4 and E25-16 terminals.
3) If OK, check resistance of sensor circuit.
Resistance between
E25-4 and E25-16
Resistance between
E25-4/ E25-16 and
ground
Are check results satisfactory?

Check Output Shaft Speed Sensor.
1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect output shaft speed
sensor connector.
2) Check for proper connection to output shaft speed sen-
sor at each terminals.
3) If OK, then check resistance of output shaft speed sen-
sor. See Fig. 1.
Are measured values as specified in Step 2?

Check Visually Output Shaft Speed Sensor and Sensor Ro-
tor Using Mirror for the Following. See Fig. 2.
D No damage
D No foreign material attached
D Correct installation
Are they in good condition?

: 648 – 792 W at 20_C, 68_F
: No continuity

1. TCM
2. Output shaft speed sensor
3. Terminal arrangement of TCM coupler
(Viewed from harness side)
YES
Go to Step 2.
Go to Step 4.
"B" or "W" wire open
or short.
Go to Step 5.
NO
Go to "A / T
DIAGNOSTIC
FLOW TABLE".
Go to Step 3.
Replace output
shaft speed sen-
sor.
Clean, repair or
replace.
