1. Gasket
BRAKE BOOSTER INSPECTION AND
ADJUSTMENT

INSPECT BOOSTER PARTS

RUBBER PARTS

Wipe fluid from rubber parts and carefully inspect each rubber part
for cuts, nicks or other damage.
If there is any question as to serviceability of rubber parts, replace
them.

METAL PARTS

Badly damaged items, or those which would take extensive work
or time to repair, should be replaced. In case of doubt, install new
parts.
INSPECT/ADJUST CLEARANCE BETWEEN
BOOSTER PISTON ROD AND MASTER
CYLINDER PISTON
The length of booster piston rod is adjusted to provide specified
clearance "a" between piston rod end and master cylinder piston.
D Before measuring clearance, push piston rod several times so
as to make sure reaction disc is in place.
D Keep inside of booster at atmospheric pressure for measure-
ment.
D Remove piston (push) rod seal from booster, if equipped.
1. Booster piston rod
2. Master cylinder piston
[1.8L engine RH model]
1) Remove piston rod seal from booster.
2) Measure depth of piston rod, i.e. distance between piston rod
and mating surface of booster-to-master cylinder (including
spacer and two gaskets).
Depth of piston rod "c" : 23.2 – 23.4 mm (0.91 – 0.92 in.)
with gasket
