1. Straightedge (press it down while measuring)
INSPECTION
1) Check body clearance of driven gear.
Push driven gear to one side of body. Using a feeler gauge,
measure clearance between driven gear and body.
If clearance exceeds its limit, replace gear.
Body clearance
Standard : 0.075 – 0.15 mm (0.00295 – 0.0059 in.)

2) Check tip clearance of both drive and driven gears.
Measure radial clearance between gear tooth and crescent.
If clearance exceeds its limit, replace gear.
Tip clearance
Standard : 0.01 – 0.248 mm (0.00040 – 0.00976 in.)
Limit
1. Pump body

3) Check side clearance of both gears.
Using a straightedge and a feeler gauge, measure side clear-
ance between gear and pump body.
Side clearance
Standard : 0.02 – 0.05 mm (0.0008 – 0.0019 in.)
Limit
Drive gears and driven gears are different in thickness as listed
below.

If side clearance of the thickest gear is out of specification, replace
oil pump body or assembly and stator shaft subassembly.
