3G-16 SUSPENSION CONTROL SYSTEM

CODE NO.23 ENGINE SPEED SIGNAL CIRCUIT

(ENGINE SPEED SIGNAL NOT INPUTTED ALTHOUGH VEHICLE
SPEED IS HIGHER THAN 10 KM/H FOR LONGER THAN 20
SECONDS)
(For 1.6 L engine model)
(For 1.8 L engine model)
(For 1.6 L engine model)
Does tachometer indicate engine speed?
YES
1. Remove suspension control module and connect
suspension control module couplers with ignition
switch OFF.
2. Check voltage between B16 terminal of suspension
control module and body ground with ignition switch
ON.
3. Is it 10 – 14V?
NO
Poor B16 connection.
If connection is OK, substitute a known-good suspen-
sion control module and recheck.
(For 1.8 L engine model)
Does tachometer indicate engine speed?
YES
"Br" wire open or poor B16 connection of suspension
control module coupler.
If all aboves are OK, replace known-good suspension
control module and recheck.
Terminal arrangement of suspension control module
(Viewed from harness side)
Faulty noise suppressor, poor noise suppressor
coupler connection, "Br/W" wire or "Br" wire open.
"Br" wire open.
"Br" wire open, shorted to ground or poor B15 con-
nection of ECM coupler.
If all aboves are OK, replace known-good ECM
and recheck.

YES
NO
