4A-4 FRONT DRIVE SHAFT
2) Remove grease from shaft and take off circlip by using special
tool.
Special Tool
(A): 09900-06107
1. Spider
2. Bearing
3. Circlip
3) Draw away spider by using bearing puller as shown.
CAUTION:
D When removing a spider, be sure to use bearing
puller with 3 arms. Removing it otherwise may
cause damage to spider.
D To prevent needle bearing of joint from being de-
greased, do not wash it, if it is to be reused.
D Do not disassemble tripod joint spider. If any mal-
condition is found in it, replace it as differential side
joint assembly.
D Disassembly of wheel side joint is not allowed. If
noise or damage exists in it, replace it as assembly.
4) Remove boot band, then pull out differential side boot from
shaft.
5) Undo band of dynamic damper, then pull out damper through
shaft. (if equipped.)
6) Undo boot bands of wheel side joint boot, then pull out boot

CENTER SHAFT AND CENTER BEARING
SUPPORT (IF EQUIPPED)
Refer to DISASSEMBLY description in SECTION 4 of this manual
for its removal procedure.
INSPECTION
D Check boots for breakage or deterioration. Replace them as
necessary.
D Check circlip, snap ring and boot bands for breakage or de-
formation. Replace as necessary.
