DTC P1700/DTC NO.32 OR 33 THROTTLE POSITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT

WIRING DIAGRAM
TROUBLESHOOTING
STEP
1 Was "A / T DIAGNOSTIC FLOW TABLE" preformed?
2 Is there DTC related to throttle position sensor (DTC
P0120/DTC No.21 or 22)?
3 Check Throttle Position Signal (Opening signal) of
warmed engine.
When using SUZUKI scan tool:
1) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC with ignition
switch OFF.
2) Turn ignition switch ON.
3) Check "THROTTLE POSITION" displayed on scan
tool. Does throttle position vary according to throttle
valve opening as shown in graph? See Fig. 1.
When not using SUZUKI scan tool:
1) Turn ignition switch ON.
2) Check duty, high voltage rate of duty cycle, (voltage)
between terminal E25-6 of TCM and ground.
Does duty (voltage) vary according to throttle valve
opening as shown in graph? See Fig. 2.
4 Check Throttle Position Signal Circuit for Open or Short.
1) Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect ECM
connectors.
2) Check for proper connection to ECM at terminal
E92-21 (G16), E92-1 (J18) or E92-18 (J18).
3) If OK, then turn ignition switch ON and check voltage
between terminal E92-21 (G16), E92-1 (J18) or
E92-18 (J18) of disconnected ECM connector and
ground.
Is it 10 – 14 V?

YES
Go to Step 2.
Go to applicable
DTC table in Sec-
tion6E1,6E3, 6-1 or 6-2.
Intermittent trouble or
faulty TCM.
Check for intermittent
referring to "INTERMIT-
TENT AND POOR
CONNECTION" in
Section 0A.
Check ECM power and
ground circuit for open.
If OK, substitute a
known-good ECM and
recheck.
NO
Go to "A / T DIAG-
NOSTIC FLOW
TABLE".
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.
"Or" circuit open or
shorted to ground,
poor E25-6 con-
nection.
If wire and connec-
tions are OK,
substitute a known-
good TCM and
recheck.
