8-16 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
Trouble
Only one light does not light.
Headlights do not light.
Only one beam ("Hi" or "Lo")
does not light.
1. Ground connection
2. Steering support member
Possible cause
D Bulb burnt Out
D Fuse blown
D Socket, wiring or grounding faulty
D Main fuse and/or fuses blown
D Lighting and dimmer switches faulty
D Defective light relay
D Defective diode
D Wiring or grounding faulty
D Bulb burn Out
D Lighting or dimmer switch faulty
INSPECTION
Circuit Continuity
1) Headlight is grounded at fender apron RH panel and steering
support member.
2) Check lighting and dimmer switch for each terminal-to-terminal
continuity. Refer to "COMBINATION SWITCH" in this section.
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1) Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2) Remove front bumper. Refer to "FRONT BUMPER" in Section
9.
3) Disconnect couplers from headlight bulb, position light, turn sig-
nal light and headlight leveling actuator (if equipped).
4) Remove headlight unit.
Reverse removal procedure for installation.
Correction
Replace bulb.
Replace fuse.
Repair as necessary.
Replace main fuse and/or fuses to
check for short.
Check switches.
Replace light relay.
Replace warning controller.
Repair as necessary.
Replace bulb.
Check switch.
