Condition
Pedal pulsation
D Damaged or loose wheel bearings.
(Pedal pulsates
D Distorted steering knuckle or rear
when depressed for
braking.)
D Excessive disc lateral runout.
D Parallelism not within specifications.
D Rear drums out of round
NOTE:
For vehicle equipped with ABS, pulsation of fluid pressure may be felt through brake pedal while ABS is
being operated. But it does not indicate any abnormality.
Braking noise
D Glazed shoe linings, or foreign
D Worn or distorted shoe linings.
D Loose front wheel bearings.
D Distorted backing plates or loose

Possible Cause

Correction
Replace wheel bearings.
Replace knuckle or rear wheel spindle.
Check per instructions. If not within
specifications, replace or machine the disc.
Check per instructions. If not within specifica-
tions, replace or machine the disc.
Check runout.
Repair or replace drum as necessary.
Repair or replace shoe linings.
Replace shoe linings (or pads).
Replace wheel bearing.
Replace or retighten securing bolts.
