In the MD Name field, enter an identifier for the MD (up to 43 alphanumeric characters). The MD Name
should be unique over the domain.

In the MD Format field, select None.
Note
Support for MDs with the MD format Character String is planned for future release. In this release,
the software enables you to configure such MDs, but they have no functionality.

In the MD Level field, select the maintenance level of the MD (1-7). The maintenance level ensures that the
CFM frames for each domain do not interfere with each other. Where domains are nested, the
encompassing domain must have a higher level than the domain it encloses. The maintenance level is
carried in all CFM frames that relate to that domain. The MD Level must be the same on both sides of the
link.

Click Apply, then Close.
The MHF (MIP) Creation field displays the type of MHF format included in the CCMs sent in this MD (in the current
release, this is MHF Default).
The Sender TLV Content field displays the contents of TLVs included in the CCMs sent in this MD (in the current
release, this is Send ID Chassis).
Configuring MA/MEGs
You can configure up to 1280 MEGs per network element. MEGs are classified as Fast MEGs or Slow MEGs
according to the CCM interval (see
Fast MEGs have a CCM interval of 1 second.
Slow MEGs have a CCM interval of 10 seconds, 1 minute, or 10 minutes.
You can configure up to 64 MEP pairs per network element.
