DTC P2798: Short in Auxiliary Transmission
Fluid Pump (ATFP) Motor U-phase Circuit, V-
phase Circuit, or W-phase Circuit
NOTE:
* Record all freeze data and review General
T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g Information (see page 14-4) before
y o u troubleshoot.
• This code is caused by an electrical circuit p r o b l e m
and cannot be caused by a mechanical p r o b l e m in the
transmission.
1. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
2. Choose ATFP Motor Test in Miscellaneous Test
M e n u , and do the test.
3. Do the ATFP M o t o r Test again in about 10 seconds
after f i n i s h i n g the preceding test.
4. Do the ATFP Motor Test again in about 10 seconds
after f i n i s h i n g the preceding test.
5. Check that DTC2798 recurs.
Is DTC P2798 indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 6.
NO—Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this
t i m e . B
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Disconnect ATFP control unit connector and ATFP
m o t o r connector.
8. Check for continuity between ATFP control unit
connector terminals No. 1 and body g r o u n d ,
between No. 2 and body g r o u n d , and between
No. 6 and body g r o u n d .

Is there continuity?
Y E S — R e p a i r a short to g r o u n d in the wire(s)
between ATFP control unit connector terminals
No. 1, No. 2, and No. 6, and the ATFP motor, then
g o t o step 10.
N O — G o t o step 9.
9. Check for continuity between ATFP motor
connector terminals No. 1 and body g r o u n d ,
between No. 2 and body g r o u n d , and between
No. 3 and body g r o u n d .

Is there continuity?
Y E S — R e p l a c e the ATFP (see page 14-228), then go
to step 10.
NO—Replace the ATFP control unit (see page
14-229), then go to step 10.
