Removal
Note these Items during removal/installation:
• Do not allow d u s t dirt, or other foreign materials to
enter the gearbox.
• Do not disassemble the steering gearbox assembly
(motor). If the motor is faulty, replace steering
gearbox as an assembly.
1. Remove the boot bands (A) and discard t h e m .
Remove the tie-rod clips (B), and pull the boots
away f r o m the ends of the gearbox.

2. Unbend the lock washer (A).

3. Unscrew both rack ends (A) w i t h a w r e n c h . Be
careful not to damage the rack shaft surface w i t h
the w r e n c h . Remove the rack end, lock washer (B)
and stop rubber (C) discard t h e m .
NOTE: Hold the flat surfaces of the rack shaft on the
pinion shaft side w i t h another w r e n c h .
