Idle Control System
Idle S t o p S w i t c h S i g n a l C i r c u i t T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g
1. Check idle stop switch adjustment (see page 19-5).
Is the adjustment OK?
Y E S — G o to step 2.
NO—Adjust the idle stop switch (see page 19-5).H
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. J u m p the SCS line with the HDS.
4. Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
6. Measure voltage between PCM connector terminal
E9 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
Y E S — G o t o step 7.
N O — G o t o step 9.
7. Press the brake pedal.
8. Measure voltage between PCM connector terminal
E9 and body g r o u n d .

Is voltage less than 1.0 V?
Y E S — T h e idle stop switch signal circuit is O K . B
NO—Replace the idle stop switch. •
9. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
10. Disconnect the idle stop switch 2P connector.
11. At idle stop switch side, check for continuity
between idle stop switch 2P connectors No. 1 and
No. 2.

Is there continuity?
Y E S — G o t o step 12.
NO—Replace the idle stop switch. •
