DTC P0751: Shift Solenoid Valve A Stuck OFF
NOTE: Record all freeze data and review General
Troubleshooting Information (see page 14-4) before
y o u troubleshoot.
1. W a r m up the engine to normal operating
temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
2. Make sure that the transmission is filled to the
proper level, and check for f l u i d leaks.
3. Drain the ATF (see step 3 on page 14-231) t h r o u g h a
strainer. Inspect the strainer for metal debris or
excessive clutch material.
Does the strainer have metal debris or excessive
clutch material?
YES—Replace the t r a n s m i s s i o n s
NO—Replace the ATF (see step 5 on page 14-231),
then g o t o step 4.
4. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
5. Test-drive the vehicle in the D position in all five
gears at speeds over 12 m p h (20 km/h) for more
than 20 seconds, then slow d o w n to a stop.
6. Retest-drive the vehicle in the D position in all five
gears at speeds over 12 m p h (20 km/h) for m o r e
than 20 seconds, then slow d o w n to a stop.
7. M o n i t o r the OBD status for P0751 in the DTCs/
Freeze Data in A/T Mode M e n u for a pass/fail.
Does the result indicate a fail?
Y E S — G o t o step 8.
NO—Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this
t i m e . If the tester indicates NOT COMPLETE, return
to step 5 and recheck. •
8. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
9. Choose Shift Solenoid A in Miscellaneous Test
M e n u , and check that the shift solenoid valve A
operates w i t h the HDS.
Is a clicking sound heard?
Y E S — G o to step 10.
NO—Replace shift solenoid valve A (see page
14-206), then go to step 13.
10. Test-drive the vehicle in the D position in all five
gears at speeds over 12 m p h (20 km/h) for m o r e
than 20 seconds, then slow d o w n to a stop.
11. Retest-drive the vehicle in the D position in all five
gears at speeds over 12 m p h (20 km/h) for m o r e
than 20 seconds, then s l o w d o w n to a stop.
12. M o n i t o r the OBD status for P0751 in the DTCs/
Freeze Data in A/T Mode M e n u for a pass/fail.
Does the result indicate a fail?
Y E S — R e p a i r shift valves A and E, or replace the
t r a n s m i s s i o n , then go to step 13.
NO—Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this
t i m e . If the tester indicates N O T COMPLETE, return
to step 10 and recheck. •
13. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
14. Test-drive the vehicle in the D position in all five
gears at speeds over 12 m p h (20 km/h) for more
than 20 seconds, then s l o w d o w n to a stop.
15. Retest-drive the vehicle in the D position in all five
gears at speeds over 12 m p h (20 km/h) for m o r e
than 20 seconds, then slow d o w n to a stop.
16. M o n i t o r the OBD status for P0751 in the DTCs/
Freeze Data in A/T Mode Menu for a pass/fail.
Does the result indicate a pass?
Y E S — T h e problem has been corrected. •
NO—Return to step 8 and recheck.
