DTC 68: Brake Pedal Position Switch
1. Check for other DTCs.
Is another DTC
indicated?
YES—Do the appropriate t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g for the
DTC.H
NO—Go to step 2.
2. Check the brake pedal position switch (see page
22-169).
Is the switch
OK?
Y E S - G o t o step 3.
NO—Replace the brake pedal position switch
(see page 19-5). •
3. Clear the DTC using the HDS (see page 19-35).
4. Disconnect the HDS f r o m the 16PDLC.
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then turn it ON (II)
again.
6. Test-drive the vehicle.
Does the ABS indicator
come on, and is DTC 68
indicated?
YES — G o t o step 7.
NO—The system is OK at this t i m e . •
7. Do the brake pedal position switch signal circuit
t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g (see page 11-338).
Is the brake pedal position
switch circuit
OK?
YES—Substitute a k n o w n - g o o d PCM, and recheck:
• If the p r o b l e m is gone, replace the original
PCM.H
• If the p r o b l e m continues, check for loose
terminals in the ABS/TCS 47P connector. If no
loose terminals are f o u n d , replace the ABS/TCS
modulator-control unit (see page 19-79). •
NO—Repair the brake pedal position switch
circuit. •
DTC 71: Different Diameter Tire
1. Clear the DTC using the HDS (see page 19-35).
2. Disconnect the HDS f r o m the 16P DLC.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then t u r n it ON (II)
again.
4. Test-drive the vehicle.
Does the ABS indicator
come on, and is DTC 71
indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 5.
NO—Intermittent failure; c o n f i r m that tire inflation
is set to spec. The vehicle is OK at this t i m e . H
5. Check that all four tires are the specified size and
are inflated to the proper specification.
Are all four tires the correct
size and
properly
inflated?
Y E S — G o t o step 6.
NO—Install the correct tires or set the tires to the
correct inflation, and retest. •
6. W i t h the vehicle on level g r o u n d , mark each tire
w i t h a small spot of grease. Roll the vehicle until
each of the tires makes t w o grease spots on the
floor.
7. Measure and record the distance between the t w o
grease spots.
Is the distance
between
the shortest
and the
longest
measurement
more than
8.5%?
YES—Replace the tire/tires that is smaller or larger
than the o t h e r s . •
NO—Replace the ABS/TCS modulator-control unit
(see page 1 9 - 7 9 ) . •
