18. Cut a "V" in the end of the nozzle (A) on the
adhesive cartridge as s h o w n .
8 mm (0.31 in.)
19. Pack adhesive into the cartridge w i t h o u t air pockets
to ensure continuous delivery. Put the cartridge in a
caulking g u n , and run a bead of adhesive (A)
around the edge of the w i n d s h i e l d (B) between the
dams (C) and m o l d i n g (D) as s h o w n . A p p l y the
adhesive w i t h i n 30 minutes after applying the glass
primer. Make a slightly thicker bead at each corner.
20. Use suction cups to hold the w i n d s h i e l d over the
opening, align it w i t h the alignment marks made in
step 14, and set it d o w n on the adhesive. Lightly
push on the w i n d s h i e l d until its edges are fully
seated on the adhesive all the w a y around. Do not
open or close the doors until the adhesive is dry.
2 1 . Scrape or w i p e the excess adhesive off w i t h a putty
knife or t o w e l . To remove adhesive f r o m a painted
surface or the w i n d s h i e l d , w i p e w i t h a soft shop
towel d a m p e n e d w i t h alcohol.
22. Let the adhesive dry for at least 1 hour, then spray
water over the w i n d s h i e l d and check for leaks.
Mark leaking areas, and let the w i n d s h i e l d dry, then
seal w i t h sealant:
• Let the vehicle stand for at least 4 hours after
w i n d s h i e l d installation. If the vehicle has to be
used w i t h i n the first 4 hours, it must be driven
slowly.
• Keep the windshield dry for the first hour after
installation.
23. Reinstall all remaining removed parts.
NOTE: Advise the customer not to do the f o l l o w i n g
things for 2 to 3 days:
• Slam the doors w i t h all the w i n d o w s rolled up.
• Twist the body excessively (such as w h e n going
in and out of driveways at an angle or d r i v i n g
over rough, uneven roads).
