DTC P1586 (23): Battery Current Signal Circuit
Problem
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is any DTC except DTC P1586 and P0A7F
indicated?
Y E S — D o the t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g for the indicated DTC.
N O — G o t o step 3.
3. Reset the M C M (see page 12-6).
4. Start the engine.
5. Check the BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR in the
DATA LIST w i t h the HDS.
Is there OA?
Y E S — G o t o step 9.
N O — G o t o step 6.
6. Start the engine, and hold it between 3,500 r p m
and 4,000 r p m w i t h o u t load (in Park or neutral) until
the IMA bettery level gauge (BAT) displays at least
three segments.
7. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P1586 indicated?
YES—Replace the battery current sensor (see page
12-142), then g o t o step 17.
NO—Intermittent failure, system is OK at this t i m e .
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at
the battery current sensor and the M C M . •
10. Remove the IPU lid (see page 12-140).
11. Check the battery current sensor connection.
Is the connection OK?
Y E S — G o to step 12.
NO—Repair connection in the battery current
sensor, then go to step 18.
12. Disconnect M C M connector A (31P).
13. Check for continuity between body g r o u n d and
M C M connector terminal A 2 1 .

Is there continuity?
Y E S — G o t o step 14.
NO—Go to step 16.
14. Disconnect the battery current sensor 3P connector.
8. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
9. Turn the battery m o d u l e switch OFF (see page 12-4).
