Outboard Joint Side
1. W r a p the splines w i t h vinyl tape (A) to prevent
damage to the outboard boot.

2. Install the new ear clamp bands (B) and outboard
b o o t then remove the vinyl tape. Be careful not to
damage the outboard boot.
3. Install the new stop ring in the driveshaft groove
(A).
4. Insert the driveshaft (A) into the o u t b o a r d joint (B)
until the stop ring (C) is close to the joint.
5. To completely seat the outboard j o i n t pick up the
driveshaft and j o i n t and tap t h e m hard f r o m a
height of about 10 c m (4 in.) onto a hard surface. Do
not use a h a m m e r as excessive force may d a m a g e
the driveshaft. Be careful not to damage the
threaded section (A) of the outboard joint.
