Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas (cont'd)
2. Install the t r i m in the reverse order of r e m o v a l , and
note these items:
• Replace any damaged clips w i t h new ones.
• Do not reuse the A-pillar cap; always replace it.
• If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace
the A-pillar t r i m w i t h a new one.
• To prevent the side curtain airbags f r o m
deploying i m p r o p e r l y and possibly causing
injury, inspect r e m o v e d pieces and replace t h e m
if they have any of these types of damage:
- A n y cracks, deformations, or stress-whitenings
in the A-pillar t r i m (A)
- A n y cracks, or stress-whitenings in the
g r o m m e t and clip seating surfaces (B)
- Bent or broken g r o m m e t (C)
• Replace any d a m a g e d parts w i t h new ones.
• Make sure the top of the t r i m overlaps w i t h the
headliner correctly (see page 24-138).
• Push the clips into place securely.
B-pillar
SRS components are located in this area. Review the
SRS c o m p o n e n t locations (see page 24-11) and the
precautions and procedures (see page 24-13) before
p e r f o r m i n g repairs or service.
NOTE:
• Put on gloves to protect y o u r hands.
• Take care not to bend or scratch the t r i m and panels.
• Use the appropriate tool f r o m the KTC t r i m tool set to
avoid damage w h e n prying c o m p o n e n t s .
1. Remove these items:
• Front door sill t r i m (see page 20-45)
• Rear door sill t r i m (see page 20-46)
• Front door opening t r i m , as needed (see step 7
on page 20-46)
• Rear door opening t r i m , as needed (see step 3 on
page 20-47)
