5. Remove the pad retainers (A).
6. Clean the caliper t h o r o u g h l y ; remove any rust, and
check for grooves and cracks.
7. Check the brake disc for d a m a g e and cracks.
8. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste (P/N
08798-9010) to the retainers on their mating
surfaces indicated by the a r r o w against the caliper
bracket (B).
9. Install the pad retainers. W i p e excess assembly
paste off the retainers. Keep any assembly paste
off the discs and pads.
10. A p p l y Molykote M-77 assembly paste (P/N
08798-9010) t o both sides of the s h i m (A), the back
of pads (B), and the other areas indicated by the
arrows. W i p e excess assembly paste off the shims
and pads. Contaminated brake discs or pads
reduce stopping ability. Keep grease off the brake
discs and pads.
11. Install the brake pads and pad shims correctly.
Install the pad w i t h the w e a r indicator (C) on the
inside.
If y o u are reusing the pads, always reinstall the
brake pads in their original positions to prevent a
m o m e n t a r y loss of braking efficiency.
12. Install the brake hose m o u n t i n g bracket (A).

Rotate the caliper piston (B) clockwise into the
cylinder, then align the cutout (C) in the piston w i t h
the tab (D) on the inner pad by t u r n i n g the piston
back. Lubricate the boot w i t h rubber grease to
avoid t w i s t i n g the piston boot. If the piston boot is
t w i s t e d , back it out so it is positioned properly.
Install the caliper. Install the flange bolts (E), and
tighten it to the specified t o r q u e w h i l e holding the
pin (F) w i t h a w r e n c h . Be careful not to damage the
pin boot.
