SRS components are located in this area. Review the
SRS c o m p o n e n t locations (see page 24-11), and the
precautions and procedures (see page 24-13) before
p e r f o r m i n g repair or service.
1. Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover and
lower steering c o l u m n cover.
2. Disconnect steering lock assembly connector.
3. Insert the ignition key in the key cylinder, then t u r n
the ignition key to ACC (I).
4. Connect the battery positive terminal to steering
lock assembly connector terminal No. 4, and
connect the battery negative terminal to No. 3
t e r m i n a l . Make sure that the ignition key cannot be
turned to LOCK (0) position. Release the battery
terminals, and make sure that the key can be turned
to LOCK (0) position and r e m o v e d f r o m the cylinder.

5. If the key interlock solenoid does not w o r k properly,
replace the ignition key cylinder/steering lock
assembly (see page 17-13).
