5. Install the knuckle (A) onto the lower a r m (B). Wipe
off the grease before tightening the nut at the ball
joint. Torque the castle nut (C) to the lower torque
specification, then tighten it only far enough to
align the slot w i t h the pin hole. Do not align the nut
by loosening it.
NOTE: Make sure the ball joint boot is not damaged
or cracked.

6. Install the n e w cotter pin (D) into the pin hole, and
bend the cotter pin as s h o w n .
7. Install the damper fork (A) over the driveshaft and
onto the lower a r m . Install the damper in the
damper fork so the aligning tab (B) is aligned w i t h
the slot in the damper fork. Loosely install the
flange bolt (C).

64 N m (6.5 kgf-m, 47 Ibf ft)
8. Loosely install the flange bolt (D) and a new self-
locking nut (E).
9. Install a n e w spindle nut (A), then tighten the nut.
After t i g h t e n i n g , use a drift to stake the spindle nut
shoulder (B) against the driveshaft.

245 N-m (25.0 k g f m , 181 Ibf-ft)
10. Clean the mating surfaces of the brake disc and the
front w h e e l , then install the front wheel w i t h the
wheel nuts.
11. Turn the front wheel by hand, and make sure there
is no interference between the driveshaft and
s u r r o u n d i n g parts.
12. Tighten the flange bolts and the self-locking nut
w i t h the vehicle's w e i g h t on the damper.
13. Refill the automatic transmission w i t h
r e c o m m e n d e d automatic transmission fluid
(see page 14-231).
14. Check the front wheel alignment, and adjust it if
necessary (see page 18-7).
