Conventional Brake Components
B r a k e H o s e R e p l a c e m e n t
NOTE:
• Before reassembling, check that all parts are free of
dirt and other foreign particles.
• Replace parts w i t h new ones w h e n e v e r specified to
do so.
• Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle; it may damage
the paint; if brake fluid gets on the paint, wash it off
immediately w i t h water.
• To prevent d r i p p i n g , cover disconnecting line joints
w i t h rags or shop towels.
1. Replace the brake hose (A) if the hose is t w i s t e d ,
cracked, or if it leaks.
2. Disconnect the brake hose f r o m the brake line (B)
using a 10 m m flare-nut w r e n c h (C).
3. Remove and discard the brake hose clip (A) f r o m
the brake hose (B).

4. Remove the banjo bolt (C), and disconnect the
brake hose f r o m the caliper.
5. Remove the flange bolts (D) f r o m the knuckle, then
remove the brake hose.
6. Install the brake hose (A) on the knuckle w i t h the
flange bolts (B) first, then connect the brake hose to
the caliper w i t h the banjo bolt (C) and new sealing
washers (D).

7. Install the brake hose (A) on the upper brake hose
bracket (B) w i t h a new brake hose clip (C).
8. Connect the brake line (D) to the brake hose.
9. After installing the brake hose, bleed the brake
system (see page 19-9).
10. Do the f o l l o w i n g checks:
• Check the brake hose and line joint for leaks, and
tighten if necessary.
• Check the brake hoses for interference and
t w i s t i n g .
