Special Tools Required
• Ball joint remover, 28 m m 07MAC-SL0A202
• Ball joint thread protector, 12 m m 07AAF-SDAA100
1. Loosen the front wheel nuts slightly.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it w i t h
safety stands in the proper locations (see page 1-7).
3. Remove the wheel nuts and front wheels.

4. Lift up the locking tab (A) on the spindle nut (B),
then remove the nut.
5. Drain the automatic transmission fluid. Reinstall
the drain plug w i t h a new washer (see page 14-231).
6. Remove the self-locking nut (A), 12 m m flange bolt
(B), and 10 m m flange bolt (C), then remove the
damper fork (D).

7. Remove the cotter pin (A) f r o m the lower a r m ball
joint castle nut (B), and remove the nut.
NOTE:
• To avoid damaging the ball joint, install the ball
j o i n t thread protector onto the threads of the ball
joint.
• Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot w h e n
installing the remover.
8. Separate the ball joint f r o m the lower arm (C) w i t h
the special tools (see page 18-12).
