38. Install the steering w h e e l (see page 17-8).
39. Holding the tires raised off the g r o u n d (lifted up),
check for the f o l l o w i n g s y m p t o m s by t u r n i n g the
steering wheel fully to the right and left several
times.

40. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery and do
the f o l l o w i n g items:
NOTE: If the IMA battery level gauge (BAT) displays
no segments, start the engine, and hold it between
3,500 rpm and 4,000 r p m w i t h o u t load (in Park or
neutral) until the BAT displays at least three
segments.
• Power w i n d o w control unit reset procedure
(see page 22-200).
• Enter the anti-shaft codes for the radio and the
navigation system, then enter the customer's X M
radio channel presets.
• Set the clock.
• Verify cruise control, auto remote, navigation
voice contorl, and turn signal switch operation.
• Make sure the steering wheel is centered.
• Do the memorizing the t o r q u e sensor neutral
position (see page 17-21).
4 1 . After installation, perform the f o l l o w i n g checks:
• Start the engine, and let it idle. Turn the steering
wheel f r o m lock-to-lock several times. Check that
the EPS indicator does not c o m e on.
• Check the steering w h e e l spoke angle. If steering
spoke angles to the right and left are not equal
(steering wheel and rack are not centered),
correct the engagement of the joint/pinion shaft
serrations, then adjust the f r o n t toe by t u r n i n g
the tie-rod ends, if necessary.
• Check the front toe inspection (see page 18-7).
