Installation
1. install the steering c o l u m n in the reverse order of
r e m o v a l , and note these items:
• Make sure the wires are not caught or pinched by
any parts.
• Take care not to let the sliding capsules fall out of
position during c o l u m n installation.
2. Steering joint connection; center the steering rack
w i t h i n its stroke.
3. Install the steering c o l u m n joint (A) on to the pinion
shaft (B).
NOTE:
• Pinion shaft w i t h center guide; install the steering
joint by aligning the slit (C) of the steering joint
w i t h the tab (D) of the center guide. Position the
angle of the center guide as s h o w n if necessary.
• Pinion shaft w i t h o u t center guide; position the
steering c o l u m n joint so the bolt (E) near to the
notch (F) is w i t h i n the range s h o w n .
Without center guide:

4. W i t h the rack in the straight ahead driving position,
cut the w i r e (G) and slip the lower end of the
steering joint on to the pinion shaft.
