DTC 12: Torque Sensor PVF
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
3. Start the engine.
4. Wait at least 10 seconds.
Does the EPS indicator
come on?
Y E S — G o t o step 5.
NO—The system is OK at this t i m e . •
5. Stop the engine, and verify the DTC.
Is DTC 12
indicated?
YES—Check for loose terminals and poor
connections at the EPS control unit. If necessary,
substitute a known-good EPS control unit and
recheck. •
NO—Perform the appropriate troubleshooting for
the DTC indicated. •
DTC 14: Torque Sensor (Resistance)
DTC 14: Torque Sensor Initial
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
3. Start the engine.
4. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left, and hold it
in that position for 10 seconds or m o r e .
Does the EPS indicator
come on?
Y E S — G o t o step 5.
NO—The system is OK at this t i m e . •
5. Stop the engine, and verify the DTC.
Is DTC 14
indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 6.
NO—Perform the appropriate t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g for
the DTC i n d i c a t e d . •
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then disconnect the
torque sensor 3P connector and EPS control unit
connector D (3P).
7. Check for continuity between the EPS control unit
connector D (3P) terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

VS1 (RED)

Wire side of female terminals
Is there
continuity?
YES—Repair short in the w i r e between the EPS
control unit terminals D1 and D 2 . B
NO—Go to step 8.
