Far-End Failure Detection (FEFD)

The Dell Force10 operating software (FTOS) supports far-end failure detection (FEFD) on the Ethernet interfaces of the E-
Series, Z-Series, and S4810 platforms.
The FEFD feature detects and reports far-end link failures.
FEFD is not supported on the Management interface.
During an RPM failover, FEFD is operationally disabled for approximately 8-10 seconds.
By default, FEFD is disabled.
