DTC B1279: Headlight Switch DIMMER
Position Circuit Malfunction
1. Clear the DTCs using the HDS.
2. Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then back O N .
3. Check for DTCs using the HDS.
Is DTCB1279 indicated?
YES — G o t o step 4.
NO—Intermittent failure. The t u r n signal switch
circuit is OK at this t i m e . Check pinfits and
connections. •
4. Reset the DTCs by CLEAR M E N U (DTC CLEAR) of
the HDS.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), then turn the
headlight switch O N .
6. Change the combination light switch f r o m low
beam to high beam and w a i t for 2 seconds.
7. Pull and hold the c o m b i n a t i o n light switch lever
and keep the passing switch position for more than
2 seconds.
8. Check for DTCs by selecting the DTCs MENU
(DTCs) f r o m the HDS.
Is DTC B1279 indicated?
YES —Go to step 9.
NO — I n t e r m i t t e n t failure, the c o m b i n a t i o n switch
and the combination switch control unit are OK at
this time. Check pinfits and connections. •
9. Disconnect the c o m b i n a t i o n light switch 12P
connector f r o m the w i p e r / w a s h e r switch.
10. Perform the c o m b i n a t i o n light switch test (see page
22-176).
Is the combination light switch OK?
YES—Faulty c o m b i n a t i o n switch control unit,
replace the wiper/washer switch. •
NO—Replace the c o m b i n a t i o n light switch. •
DTC B1280: Turn Signal Switch Circuit
Malfunction
1. Clear the DTCs using the HDS.
2. Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then back O N .
3. Check for DTCs using the HDS.
Is DTC B1280 idicated?
YES —Go to step 4.
NO—Intermittent failure. The t u r n signal switch
circuit is OK at this time. Check pinfits and
connections. •
4. Reset the DTCs by CLEAR MENU (DTC CLEAR) of
the HDS.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
6. Turn the t u r n signal switch t o the left position and
wait for 2 seconds.
7. Turn the t u r n signal switch to the right position and
wait for 2 seconds.
8. Check for DTCs using the HDS.
Is DTC B1280 indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 9.
NO — I n t e r m i t t e n t failure, the t u r n signal light
switch and the c o m b i n a t i o n switch control unit are
OK at this t i m e . Check pinfits and connections. •
9. Disconnect the c o m b i n a t i o n light switch 12P
connector f r o m the w i p e r / w a s h e r switch.
10. Check for short in the turn signal light switch
terminals in each switch position (see page 22-176).
Is there a short?
YES—Faulty, turn signal light switch, replace the
c o m b i n a t i o n light switch. •
NO—Faulty c o m b i n a t i o n switch control unit,
replace the wiper/washer switch. •
