Climate Control
A / C C o m p r e s s o r R e p l a c e m e n t
NOTE:
• Do not install the A/C compressor into a system
unless you are completely sure that the system is free
of c o n t a m i n a t i o n . Installing the A/C compressor into
a contaminated system can result in premature A/C
compressor failure.
• IMA components are located in this area. The IMA is
a high-voltage system. You must be familiar w i t h the
IMA system before w o r k i n g on or around it. Make
sure y o u have read the IMA i n f o r m a t i o n before
p e r f o r m i n g repairs or service (see page 12-3).
1. If the A/C compressor is marginally operable, run
the engine at idle speed, and let the air
conditioning w o r k for a f e w minutes, then shut the
engine off.
2. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the
radio and the navigation s y s t e m , then write d o w n
the customer's audio presets.
3. Turning off power to the high voltage circuit
(see page 12-3).
4. Recover the refrigerant w i t h a recovery/recycling/
charging station (see page 21-103).
5. Remove the ignition coil cover (see page 4-22).
6. Remove the shield connector cover (A). Slide the
retainer (B), then disconnect the connector (C).
Remove the connector clip (D) and the w i r e harness
clips (E).
7. Move the auto-tensioner (A) to relieve tension f r o m
the drive belt (B), then remove the drive belt.
8. Disconnect the connector (A) f r o m the A/C
condenser. Remove the A/C compressor clutch
connector (B) f r o m the A/C condenser shroud (C),
then remove the w i r e harness clip (D). Remove the
hose (E) f r o m the radiator. Loosen the lower
m o u n t i n g bolt, then remove the upper m o u n t i n g
bolts and the radiator fan s h r o u d . Be careful not to
damage the radiator fins w h e n r e m o v i n g the A/C
condenser fan shroud.
