Climate Control
P a s s e n g e r ' s A i r M i x C o n t r o l M o t o r
NOTE: Before testing, check for HVAC DTCs (see page
21-9).
1. Disconnect the 7P connector f r o m the passenger's
air mix control motor.
[NOTICE]
Incorrectly applying power and g r o u n d to
the passenger's air m i x control m o t o r w i l l
damage it. Follow the instructions carefully.
2. Connect battery power to the No. 1 terminal of the
passenger's air m i x control motor, and ground the
No. 2 t e r m i n a l ; the passenger's air mix control
motor should run, and stop at Max Cool. If it
doesn't, reverse the connections; the passenger's
air mix control motor should run, and stop at Max
Hot. W h e n the passenger's air m i x control motor
stops running, disconnect battery power
immediately.
3. If the passenger's air m i x control motor did not run
in step 2, remove it, then check the passenger's air
mix control linkage and door for s m o o t h
m o v e m e n t .
• if the linkage and door m o v e s m o o t h l y , replace
the passenger's air mix control motor (see page
21-83).
• If the linkage or door sticks or binds, repair t h e m
as needed.
• If the passenger's air m i x control motor runs
smoothly, go to step 4.
4. Measure the resistance between the No. 5 and
No. 7 terminals. It should be between 4.2 to 7.8 kQ .

5. Reconnect the passenger's air mix control m o t o r 7P
connector, then turn the ignition switch ON (II).
6. Using the backprobe set, measure the voltage
between the No. 3 and No. 5 terminals.
Max Cool—about 1.5 V
M a x H o t — a b o u t 4.5 V
7. If either the resistance or voltage readings are not
as specified, replace the passenger's air mix
control motor (see page 21-83).
