Multiplex Integrated Control System (MICS)
T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g - B - C A N S y s t e m D i a g n o s i s T e s t M o d e A
NOTE:
• Check for engine DTCs (U-codes) w i t h the HDS. If any
U-codes are detected, find and repair the cause of
code(s) before continuing w i t h the diagnosis test.
• Perform this diagnosis first if the s y m p t o m is related
to the B-CAN system.
• A l w a y s cycle the ignition switch w i t h i n 3 seconds
w h e n p r o m p t e d in the DTC t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g
procedures.
1. Make sure the system is related to B-CAN.
• Gauge control module
• Exterior lights
• Turn signals
• Entry light control
• Interior lights
• Safety indicators
• Rear w i n d o w defogger
• Horns (security and panic)
• Chimes (key, seatbelt and lights ON)
• Power w i n d o w s (key-off timer)
• Wiper/washer
• Security
• Keyless entry
• Power door locks
• Climate control
• Key interlock
• Dash light brightness
Is the symptom related to the B-CAN system?
Y E S — G o t o step 2.
NO—Go to the system t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g for the
system w i t h the s y m p t o m . •
2. Connect the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) to the
data link connector (DLC) 16P connector.
3. From BODY ELECTRICAL M E N U , select connected
units UNIT INFORMATION, and then select
CONNECTED UNIT.
• MICU
• Door multiplex control unit
• Gauge control m o d u l e
• Combination switch control unit
• Relay control module
• Climate control unit
NOTE:
• If the unit is c o m m u n i c a t i n g w i t h the scan t o o l ,
DETECT will be displayed.
• If the unit is not c o m m u n i c a t i n g , " N O T
AVAILABLE" w i l l be displayed.
Are all control units communicating with the HDS?
Y E S - G o t o step 4.
NO—If any of t h e m are not c o m m u n i c a t i n g , go to
B-CAN System Diagnosis Test M o d e B. If all units
are not c o m m u n i c a t i n g , or only the MICU is
c o m m u n i c a t i n g , go to DTC B1000 troubleshooting
(see page 22-108). •
