Route Group Default Values
9.54 The default values of the pre-programmed route groups are as follows. All route groups
are programmable.
For U.S. Systems:
Local (P1000): This route group is used for all calls that do not begin with a toll digit
(1) or operator digit (0) and for calls to 911 (its default dial pattern is N+). It uses the
Local Facility Group.
NOTE:
Call feature code or dialing 911), Route Group 1 is used even if it contains nodes. This
means that the network can access a trunk on a node other than the user's node if the
user accesses ARS and dials the emergency number. Inter-Tel highly recommends
that local trunks be installed and used for emergency number trunk access and
that nodes are not used in Route Group 1.
Toll Local (P1003): This route group is used for calls with a toll digit (1) and a seven-
digit number, and for calls to 1N11 (N=Any digit 2-9). Its default dial patterns are TN11
and TXXXXXXX. It uses the Local Facility Group.
Toll Long Distance (P1011): This route group processes calls with a toll digit (1) and a
10-digit number. The numbers may also include equal access digits. The default dial
pattern is [Q]TNXXXXXX+. This Route Group uses the Toll Long Distance Facility
Group.

Determine what types of calls will be processed by each facility group and pro-
gram names for those groups.
For each facility group, determine which trunk groups and nodes will be used and
program the list. Make sure that the trunk groups and nodes contain the proper
type of trunks (local, FX, WATS, long distance, etc.) for the calls that will be
routed. (Use the information from steps 1c and 1d) Also ensure the stations that
will be using ARS have outgoing access for the trunk groups and nodes (see
page 6-228
for trunk group programming and
programming).
For each facility group, program the list of dial rules that will be used so that the
outgoing numbers include all of the necessary digits. See the information from
step 1e to determine which dial rules each facility group uses.
Program the route groups:
Determine what types of calls will be processed by each route group and program
names for those groups. (See step 1a.)
The dialing patterns tell the system which route group to select. For each route
group, program its dialing patterns. (See step 1b) When checking the route group,
the system will look at the first dial pattern. If it does not match, the system will
continue checking the other patterns in the route group's list. If a match is found,
the route group is selected. If not, the next route group is checked.
For each route group, select the facility group(s) to be used to route the calls. See
the information in step 1c and the facility group programming done in step 3.)
