MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Corrective Action
On the AIC card, the same component that con-
trols the voice paths is started only by the watch-
dog; if you do not start the watchdog, you will not
get audio or hardware-triggered reboots. The
watchdog is supposed to start automatically when
the system comes up. You can check this by open-
ing the Services Control Panel (Start/Settings/Con-
trol Panel, then choose the Services icon). The
window that comes up lists alphabetically all of the
services currently registered with that system.
Voice Mail (Avdap Service) uses "Manual" startup
because the Watchdog starts it. And the Watchdog
Service should be "Automatic." If necessary,
change the settings. If the watchdog is not cur-
rently started, start it by highlighting it, then select-
ing Start.
When the Voice Processing Unit starts up, if the
prompt or menu files (english.pmt, english.ini, &
menuinit.dat) are not valid (missing, defective, or
the wrong version), the message "Faking an active
language" will appear in the log file. You must rein-
stall the prompt and menu files as described on
page
3-226.
The Options Card must be configured to have a
Voice Processing Unit connection. See
This problem blocks one or more ports from han-
dling a call. If a caller is connected to a blocked
port, there will be no audio; you will hear a short
period of silence, then the call is disconnected. The
message "Allocating busy port" appears in the log.
You must shut down the Voice Processing Unit,
wait until several minutes have passed with no
activity showing in the log display on the screen (or
in avdapmon on an system), and reboot the sys-
tem. Select Start/Shut Down/Restart to reboot the
computer.
Replace the defective card.
User group 1 and the home area code tables must
be programmed before using the Fax-On-Demand
feature. A fax library must also be established. See
page 4-29
in VOICE PROCESSING FEATURES
for more information.
Check to make sure that a fax library has been
established. See
page 4-29
information.
Ensure that the switches and jumpers are set in
the proper positions.
Replace the Fax Card.
