7. IP RESOURCE CARD DIAGNOSTICS
7.1 The IP Resource Card (IPRC) has many diagnostic tools used for troubleshooting pur-
poses. These tools are separate from Call Processing and display only information local to the
IPRC. There are also limited programming displays to control the card.
7.2 To access diagnostic information, you can use a serial (RS232 or Telnet) or Web/HTML
interface. The serial interface contains text displays that are common to all IP cards as well as
information that is specific to IPRCs. The IPRC-specific displays show the current status of a
call, how Call Processing has mapped the crosspoint connections, and how Call Processing has
mapped the sessions and channels. The Web/HTML interface uses a graphical user interface
(GUI) to display information that is common to all IP cards.

7.3 To access the serial displays, use an RS232 interface or the Telnet protocol (if the
option is enabled in DB Programming; see

Although the Web and serial interfaces provide access to several programming options for
the IPRC, use only DB Programming to program the IPRC. Any settings you define in the
Web or serial interface are automatically overridden by DB Programming.

7.6 The IPRC requires a password when you log on to a Telnet session or enter a program-
ming display on an RS232 session. For the Web/HTML interface, the IPRC requires a user-
name and password. By default, "IPRC" is the username and "itpassw" is the password.
Because the password allows access to the IPRC, Inter-Tel recommends changing the defaults.

7.7 In addition to requiring a password, you can disable the Telnet and/or Web/HTML
interfaces. If disabled, the only way to access the IPRC is through an RS232 interface.
Although the Telnet and Web/HTML options can be enabled/disabled through any interface,
the changes do not take effect until Call Processing sends the settings to the IPRC, which is
usually after a reset or a database change.
