Version 11.0 Upgrade Instructions
INTER-TEL
The default connections for a CPS are the same as the CPC except that a CPS can
have 30 OAI connections, 30 Message Print clients, 30 SMDR clients, 30 System
Monitor clients, and 255 Desktop OAI connections.
Inter-Tel strongly recommends that you use the socket connections whenever pos-
sible. Because IP connections are faster and more reliable than serial connections.
Most OAI applications support IP connections.
NOTE:
As of January 2004, Inter-Tel ceased development of Desktop Open Archi-
tecture Interface (OAI) applications and the Desktop OAI Toolkit was retired. Desk-
top OAI applications will run on v9.0 or later, but Inter-Tel will no longer develop
new Desktop OAI applications.
The IP port on the CPC supports OAI application connections. The number of
applications connected to the CPC, however, may affect system speed.
If upgrading a system running v7.x software or earlier that uses Call Processing
Server redundancy, you must order new Master and Backup security keys (part no.
827.9775 and 827.9776 respectively). In addition, you must order the redundancy
feature on the license.
A software license is required only for the Master CP Server, not the Backup
server.
For a CPS 512 or ATM system, you must upgrade the firmware on the CPU020/
EAC or PCMA card for use with the CP Server. The latest production builds are
available on the edGe (www.inter-tel.com/software). For readers located in
Europe, download the software from the Inter-Tel Europe FTP server.
For Windows 2000-based CP Servers, you may need to uninstall the Watchdog
Timer Card driver and install a new driver (see
instructions are available in Tech Central on the edGe. For readers located in
Europe, contact the Inter-Tel Europe office for product information. The Upgrade
Instructions for the Berkshire PC Watchdog Timer Card Driver (document part
number 835.2735) includes procedures for identifying the server's current Watch-
dog Timer Card driver. The new driver is required to support Windows Service
Pack 4. Currently, the Windows 2000-based CP Servers ship with Windows Ser-
vice Pack 4.
Versions 8.0 and later do not require feature PALs. In addition, the CP Server no
longer requires PALs.
As of version 8.0, the OS/2-based Voice Processing Unit is no longer supported.
Axxess software versions 8.0 and later support the Windows NT/2000-based
Voice Processing Units, as well as the OS/2-based and Linux-based EVMCs.
To support more than 16 IP endpoints, the IPRC requires the daughter card (part
number 550.2266) and v8.2.0 or later IPRC firmware.
The following cards and devices require new firmware:
DKSC-16+s (see the Digital Keyset Card Firmware Replacement Instruc-
tions for details)
If upgrading from v8.0 or earlier, device IPRCs if connecting to SIP or IP
endpoints (except the IP softphone)
If upgrading from v8.0 or earlier, hard IP endpoints
