DIGITAL DIRECT STATION SELECTION/BUSY LAMP FIELD (DSS/BLF) UNITS
12.120The Inter-Tel system supports three types of DSS/BLF Consoles/Units. The unit used
depends on the phone.
NOTE:
8520, and Model 8560 Phones with DSS/BLF Units need to be identified in DB Programming
and equipped with PCDPMs (see PROGRAMMING,
12.121Although the 60-key model is designed for Executive Display, Professional Display,
Associate Display, or Standard Display Phones and the 50-key model is designed for Model
8520 or Model 8560 Phones, you can use either DSS/BLF Unit on any of these phones. Each
unit provides one-button access to 50 or 60 extension numbers and/or other features/resources,
while four units provide access to 200 or 240 extension numbers and/or other features/
resources. (See
"pages" of layouts to accommodate four connected DSS/BLF Units. There can be up to 20
DSS/BLF Units in the system, up to four on a single phone.

12.122Together, the lamps in the buttons create a busy lamp field that indicates the status of
the resource (e.g., station, trunk, hunt group, or feature) assigned to the buttons (unless the
resource is an off-node device). The LED indicator in the button indications are shown in the
table on the next page.

MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
With Executone IDS Phones (U.S. Only): IDS phones can be equipped with up to
three 48-key DSS Consoles. There can be a total of 80 IDS 48-key DSS Consoles on
the system. Each 48-key DSS Console requires an EKSC circuit.
NOTE:
For details about the 48-key DSS/BLF Unit, see a version 7.0 or earlier Eclipse
Installation and Maintenance Manual.
With Executive Display, Standard Display, Professional Display, and Associate Dis-
play Phones: PCDPM-equipped Executive Display and Standard Display Phones can
connect to up to four 60-key, 6-row DSS/BLF Units. Professional Display and Associ-
ate Display Phones can connect to up to four 60-key, 12-row DSS/BLF Units. There
can be a total of 20 of these 60-key DSS/BLF Units on the system. Because each unit is
powered by an AC transformer and is connected to the phone's PCDPM, the 60-key
DSS/BLF Units do not require a DKSC or DKSC-16/DKSC-16+ circuit that is separate
from the phone.
With Model 8520 and Model 8560 Phones: PCDPM-equipped Model 8520 and
Model 8560 Phones may be connected to up to four 50-key DSS/BLF Units. There can
be a total of 20 of these 50-key DSS/BLF Units on the system. Because each unit is
powered by an AC transformer and is connected to the phone's PCDPM, the 50-key
DSS/BLF Consoles do not require a DKSC or DKSC-16/DKSC-16+ circuit that is sep-
arate from the phone
